• Paramedic (Full Time): Caroline County Department of Emergency Services

    About the Department:   The Department of Emergency Services is responsible for providing advanced Emergency Medical Services (EMS), emergency planning and coordination for County government, and emergency communications, including 911 dispatch, police communications for the Sheriff’s Office and four town police departments, and fire and rescue communications for eight volunteer fire companies and the county EMS responders.  

    About the Job:   Full Time Paramedic. This is skilled specialized work as a Nationally Registered Paramedic. Performs necessary emergency medical care on sick, injured or convalescent persons at the site of an incident or in route to the hospital or other destination as prescribed by MIEMSS.


    Required Knowledge and Skills:
    Walk or run without break for one mile.
    Must be able to climb stairs 
    Must be able to kneel for periods of 15 minutes
    Must be able to bend to pick up or work on an item 
    Must be able to determine if item is hot, cold, or slippery
    Must be able to grasp items
    Must be able to read and understand work orders, simple mathematical problems and operator manuals accompanying equipment 
    Must be able to work outdoors during inclement weather.
    May not suffer from claustrophobia 
    Education Requirements:
     
    Graduation from an accredited high school or G.E.D. 
     
    Paramedic I License/Training Requirements:
     
    Valid Driver’s License
    Maryland Licensed Paramedic
    National Certified Paramedic
    EVOC or acceptable equivalent course within six months after employment 
    Salary: $52,521 - $61,666
    This includes scheduled overtime when normal schedule is all worked.
     
    Paramedic II License/Training Requirements:
    Valid Driver’s License
    Maryland Licensed Paramedic
    National Certified Paramedic
    FEMA ICS 100 & 700
    ACLS
    PALS
    FEMA IS-5 An Introduction to Hazardous Materials.
    EVOC or acceptable equivalent course within six months after employment.
    2 – 5 years’ experience as full time Paramedic with Caroline County.                                                      or
    5 – 10 years’ experience as a Paramedic with another agency. 
    Salary: $54,990 - $64,258
    This includes scheduled overtime when normal schedule is all worked.
     
     
    Paramedic III License/Training Requirements:
    Valid Driver’s License
    Maryland Licensed Paramedic
    National Certified Paramedic
    FEMA ICS 100, 200, 300, 700 and 800
    ACLS
    PALS
    FEMA IS-5 An Introduction to Hazardous Materials.
    EVOC or acceptable equivalent course within six months after employment.
    5 – 10 years’ experience as full time Paramedic with Caroline County.
    10 – 20 years’ experience as a Paramedic with another agency. 
    Salary: $57,504 – 67,029
    This includes scheduled overtime when normal schedule is all worked.
