Payroll Specialist: Caroline County Office of Human Resources

The Office of Human Resources works closely with the County Departments, Employees and Residents to meet the changing needs of the organization and population. The Office of Human Resources administers a total compensation program that attracts applicants, maintains internal equity, and competes in relevant labor markets.
About the Position: The Payroll Specialist position is a technical and administrative position within the Office of Human Resources. An employee in this class administers all aspects of the payroll processing for employees. An employee in this class works with a modest degree of supervision from the Director of Human Resources. This position requires a high degree of organizational aptitude, the ability to manage multiple priorities with multiple deadlines, exceptional customer service skills, and the ability to interpret complex laws, rules, and regulations.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Working knowledge of personnel laws, policies, and procedures; preferably some knowledge of principles of governmental organization and administration.
Working knowledge of County and Departmental Policy and Procedures as they related to Human Resources and Payroll.
Strong technology skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook) and online platforms.
Strong skills in organization and oral and written communication.
Thorough knowledge of Payroll laws.
Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with other employees, job applicants, and the public exercising tact, courtesy, and good judgment.
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, including the preparation and presentation of reports and presentations.
Ability to perform all tasks as required with limited or no supervision and check own work to ensure accuracy
Ability to set work priorities.
Ability to be discreet and maintain information of a confidential nature.
Ability to work effectively, with interruptions.

Education and License/Training Requirements:
Associates Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or related field and three to five years’ experienceOR
High School Diploma and 6 years of experience in administrative/office; 2 of which experience in human resources
Valid Maryland Class C License or equivalent.

Salary: $48,086 – 64,831 May vary based up experience.
