Yarn Storming Knitting Bee at Adkins Arboretum
Yarn Storming Knitting Bee
Interested in participating in the Arboretum's Yarn Storming event but not sure where to begin? Don't be overwhelmed. You can add your touch to a trunk, a branch, or even a twig! Bring your knitting needles, crochet hooks, or weaving supplies for a pop-up fiber arts social and knitting bee on Saturday, February 1, and help us create a colorful display of whimsical tree "sweaters." The knitting bee is from 2 to 4 p.m.Assistant Director Jenny Houghton will explain the yarn storming phenomenon, and Krista Carter-Smith of the Fiber Arts Center of the Eastern Shore (FACES) will provide basic instruction for beginning knitters. Coffee, tea, and treats will be provided. Please come prepared with your own supplies; limited yarn will be available to share.
Projects created as part of the knitting bee will be used to decorate Arboretum trees in time for the March 8 Yarn Storming reception. The event is sponsored by the Arboretum in partnership with FACES.
The knitting bee is free, but advance registration is appreciated. Click here to register, and please share with interested family or friends.
