37th Annual Ridgely Lions Club Strawberry Festival

The Ridgely Lions are busy getting ready for the 2016 Strawberry Festival which will be held on Sunday May 29th. We have many vendors returning and some news ones too!  For more info about the Strawberry Festival, visit the Ridgely Lions Club Facebook page or email to ridgelylions@verizon.net .
We have also had a tremendous number of runners and walkers interested in signing up for the 6^th Annual Strawberry Chase 5K Fun Run and Walk. More to come on this great event that the Ridgely Lions partner with Caroline County Parks & Recreation to benefit the Ronald McDonald House and the Caroline County Super Summer Day Camp. RONALD McDONALD HOUSE CHARITIES

(Ridgely, MD, May 2016) –Ethan Frey a second grader at Ridgely Elementary School will serve as the Honorary Race Marshall for the 6th Annual Strawberry Chase 5K Fun Run & Walk.  Ethan is a former resident at the Ronald McDonald House in Baltimore and Ethan’s mother Jennifer says “the RMH is a great place that holds a special place in the hearts of anyone who has ever utilized their services”.   The Strawberry Chase is a part of the Ridgely Lions Club’s 37^th Annual Strawberry Festival and will be run at Martin Sutton Memorial Park in Ridgely MD on Sunday May 29th.   All proceeds from the race benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities and the Caroline County Super Summer Day Camp.  Race will begin at 9am on 4^th Street at Martin Sutton Park.
 
On-site registration will be open on the day of the race at 7:30 am.  Early Registration thru May 25 is $20/person .   Late Registration after May 25 is $25/person.  Kids age 12 yrs and younger can register for $10.  You can also register as a Sleepwalker and contribute from the comfort of your own bed for $25/person.   Prizes will be awarded to the Overall and Master’s women and men’s champions and to the top three male and female finishers in nine (9) age groups.  Prizes will also be awarded to three participants who wear the most patriotic costume in red, white and blue.

The 6th Annual Strawberry Chase 5K Fun Run & Walk is co-sponsored this year by the Caroline County Department of Recreation & Parks, Advantage Rehab, Inc., Chincoteague Pony Rescue, Inc, the Delmarva Business Network, Farmer Johns, Ridgely Elementary School PTA, Joanne Shipley Designs, American Legion Caroline Post #29, the Meoli Companies (owner/operators of the eastern shore McDonalds restaurants), the Lions Clubs of Caroline County (Marydel, Greensboro, Ridgely, Denton, Preston, & Federalsburg) and the Kent Island and Queenstown Lions Clubs.  If you and/or your business or organization are interested in sponsoring and partnering with the Ridgely Lions to help support the Ronald McDonald House and the Caroline County Summer School program referred to as the Super Summer Day Camp, then contact Lion Dave Davis at 443-786-2547 or ddavis@goeaston.net.
