Individuals to explore their unique conflict and communication styles, provide practical strategies for improving communication, and share helpful resources. The Mid Shore Community Mediation Center is a local nonprofit founded in 2005 that serves Dorchester, Caroline, and Talbot counties. The organization offers a range of conflict resolution services to individuals and organizations at no cost. One of their primary services is mediation—a voluntary and confidential process guided by two trained, neutral mediators. These conversations can take place at any stage of a conflict: as a preventative measure, during active conflict, or to reflect on past issues and plan for more constructive interactions moving forward. The organization is grounded in the philosophy that conflict is not only natural, but necessary. At Mid Shore, conflict is seen as an opportunity for growth and transformation. Their processes are designed to foster sustainable solutions tailored to each unique situation. In addition to mediation, the Center offers other conflict resolution services such as restorative circles, conferencing, workshops, trainings, and customized processes for groups and organizations. Mid Shore Community Mediation Center is continually seeking ways to deepen its involvement in the communities it serves, partnering with local school systems, court systems, nonprofits, and other organizations.
