Caroline County Council of Arts Announces September Programs and Classes at The Foundry and Online
DENTON, MD — The Caroline County Council of Arts invites the community to explore a full September lineup of creative programs, hands-on classes, writing groups, and youth music opportunities at The Foundry Art Gallery and online. From drawing and watercolor to iris folding, paint pouring, music, and creative writing, September offers something for artists, writers, students, and lifelong learners of all experience levels.
Programs will take place throughout the month at The Foundry Art Gallery, 401 Market St., Denton, MD, as well as virtually through Zoom. Registration is required for select programs, and space may be limited for in-person workshops.
September Program Highlights
Dennis Hall: Artist of the Month — Eastern Shore Living
Friday, September 18, 2026, 5:00–7:00 PM | The Foundry Art Gallery
The Foundry will celebrate local artist Dennis Hall with Eastern Shore Living, an exhibit featuring watercolor paintings and artwork inspired by the landscapes, waterways, wildlife, and everyday beauty of the Eastern Shore. Guests are invited to enjoy an evening of art, conversation, hors d’oeuvres, and drinks while exploring the exhibit. Free admission.
Seven Secrets of Drawing: “Artist Tricks for Better Drawing” with Petrea
Saturday, September 5, 2026, 11:30 AM–1:00 PM | The Foundry Art Gallery
This fun and engaging workshop introduces seven simple artist techniques designed to help participants improve their drawing, observation, and sketching skills in a relaxed and supportive setting. All materials are provided. Ages 16 and up. Cost: $25 per person.
Iris Folded Cards Workshop with Bernadette Brown
Saturday, September 12, 2026, 12:00–2:00 PM and Thursday, September 24, 2026, 12:00–2:00 PM | The Foundry Art Gallery
Participants will discover the eco-inspired art of iris folding and create two custom greeting cards using colorful origami paper and craft supplies. This beginner-friendly workshop includes materials and light refreshments. All ages are welcome. Cost: $25 per person.
Paint Pouring Class with Joanne Gelles
Thursday, September 24, 2026, 6:00–7:30 PM | The Foundry Art Gallery
Artist Joanne Gelles will lead a fun, hands-on evening class for all skill levels. Participants will create their own unique paint pour artwork with guided instruction. BYOB and snacks are welcome. Cost: $30 per person or two for $55.
Watercolor for Beginners with Dennis Hall
Saturday, September 26, 2026, 1:00–3:00 PM | The Foundry Art Gallery
This introductory session begins a three-part watercolor series for new painters. Participants will learn about watercolor paints, paper, and brushes, practice basic techniques, create a custom bookmark, and begin a small painting. All materials are included. Cost: $30 per person.
Write On!
Tuesday, September 1 and Tuesday, September 15, 2026, 6:30–8:00 PM | Online via Zoom
Write On! is a free online writers’ group for adults that meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month. September topics include “Summer Vacation” on September 1 and “Mood” on September 15. Participants may listen, write, or share their work in a supportive environment. Pre-registration is required by 3:00 PM on the day of each meeting to receive the Zoom link.
Crescendo Club with Ashley Weer
Wednesday, September 2 and Wednesday, September 16, 2026, 5:00–6:00 PM | The Foundry
Crescendo Club, offered under the Music in Caroline umbrella, gives middle school musicians a place to learn new music, experiment with their instruments, collaborate with peers, and build performance skills. The club meets on the first and third Wednesdays of each month. Cost: $60 per month or $30 per session.
Teen Writers’ Club
First Monday of every month, 7:00 PM | Online via Zoom
Teen Writers’ Club welcomes writers ages 13–18 for virtual sessions focused on creativity, discussion, writing prompts, sharing, and peer feedback. Poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and works in progress are all welcome. Registration is required.
