University of Maryland Shore Regional Cardiovascular Diagnostic Center at Easton Earns Echocardiography Reaccreditation by IAC

EASTON, Md. (May 7, 2026) – University of Maryland Shore Regional Cardiovascular Diagnostic Center at Easton recently was granted a three-year term of re-accreditation by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) in Echocardiography in the area of Adult Transthoracic. This latest re-accreditation demonstrates the facility’s ongoing commitment to providing quality patient care in echocardiography for the past 25 years. UM Shore Regional Health (UM SRH) is a member organization of the University of Maryland Medical System.

“Earning reaccreditation from the IAC for 25 consecutive years is a meaningful reflection of our team’s dedication to delivering accurate, high-quality cardiovascular diagnostics,” said Dipesh Ludhwani, MD, Medical Director, Non-Invasive Cardiology, UM SRH. “This milestone underscores our ongoing commitment to clinical excellence, continuous improvement and, most importantly, the health and well-being of the patients we serve.”

Accreditation by the IAC means that University of Maryland Shore Regional Cardiovascular Diagnostic Center at Easton has undergone an intensive application and review process and is found to be compliant with the published Standards, demonstrating a commitment to quality patient care in echocardiography. Comprised of a detailed self-evaluation followed by a thorough review by a panel of medical experts, the IAC accreditation process enables both the critical operational and technical components of the applicant facility to be assessed, including representative case studies and their corresponding final reports.

Echocardiography is used to assess different areas of the heart and can detect heart disease or signs of serious conditions. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, heart disease is the leading cause of death for men, women and people of most racial and ethnic groups in the United States. On average, one American dies every 34 seconds of cardiovascular disease-disorders of the heart and blood vessels.

There are many factors that contribute to an accurate diagnosis based on echocardiography. The training and experience of the sonographer performing the procedure, the type of equipment used and the quality assessment metrics each facility is required to measure, all contribute to a positive patient outcome. IAC accreditation is a “seal of approval” that patients can rely on as an indicator of consistent quality care and a commitment to continuous improvement.

“This reaccreditation speaks to the consistency, expertise and attention to detail our team brings to every echocardiography study,” said Danielle Wilson, BS, RT (R) (M), RDMS, RVT, Director of Imaging Services & Noninvasive Cardiology, UM SRH. “Maintaining these high standards over three decades demonstrates our focus on quality, patient safety and ensuring our community has access to trusted, advanced diagnostic care.”

The IAC is a nonprofit organization that evaluates and accredits facilities that provide diagnostic imaging and interventional-based procedures, thus improving the quality of patient care provided in private offices, clinics and hospitals where such services are performed.
